The Korean National Committee of Historical
Sciences was founded in 1970 as non-profit, non-governmental organization to represent all Korean
historians in order to promote international historical understanding through
scholarly accomplishments. Its main undertaking is to contribute to the development
of historical disciplines and intellectual cooperation through an extensive
exchange of scholarship. It emphatically urges every Korean historian to participate
not only in any intellectual activities on the international level, but also
in the International Congress of Historical Sciences sponsored every five year by the CISH (Le
Comité International des Sciences historiques).
The Korean
National Committee at all times welcome any attempt to strengthen cooperative
ties among professional historians in every field to promote historical research and
intellectual activities, regardless of divergent perceptions and conflicting
outlook in history.
