In September 2002, the general assembly of the International Committee of Historical Sciences held in Amsterdam elected Professor CHA Ha Soon, President of the Korean National Committee as one of seven members in the Nominating Committee, which would act to select the new members of the CISH beginning in 2005. The Committee held its first meeting in Berlin in August 2004, and the recommendation made at the committee meeting was going to be adopted at the General Assembly in 2005, when the 20th International Congress would be held. His role as a Nominating Committee member would for sure contribute to enhancing the international status of the Korean National Committee.
